Update From Montreal
Posted by: Ben Wright on October 30, 2007 at 1:20PM EST

No major news out of Montreal concerning the lineup. McCarthy and Sterling are scratches again in keeping with the coaching staff's tendency to keep the lineup the same after wins. Pascal Dupuis will skate during the warm-up and will be a last minute decision. So Popovic is on defense and the only question is who gets bumped if Dupuis can play. My assumption is one of Boulton and Thorburn will sit with Boulton being more likely to play based on seniority.

Johan Hedberg gets the start in net.

In an odd twist, all three of the Thrashers' wins have come against Original Six teams. Who do they play tonight? An Original Six team.

Rookie goaltender Carey Price is getting the start for Montreal. The Thrashers have a tendency to make rookies look good in net (Ellis in Nashville, Elliot from Ottawa), so hopefully that changes tonight. the Canadiens happen to be on a four-game winning streak and are 2-1-1 at home. the thrashers will have to be disciplined since Montreal has the best power play in the NHL, even without Sheldon Souray.  fortunately their penalty kill isn't so hot, so the Thrashers might be able to take advantage of that if they can draw some penalties. According to The Forechecker's spreadsheet Jim Slater and Bryan Little have drawn the most penalties for Atlanta.

I'm feeling optimistic about this one. If Marian Hossa can get on the board early it'll be Atlanta's game to lose.

Here's your official game preview in case you haven't seen it yet.

Won't be able to see this one, but I'm going to the Ottawa game with either Twirly or McMike. Good luck in Montreal, but when Blueland travels to the Sea of Red in the hinterlands of Kanata, the puck will only find it's way in to the net tended by your goalie-du-jour with the bird logo stained on his shirt.

At least we treat Hossa well when he comes back to visit. ;)

Maybe they only have a tendency to make rookies whose last names start with "Ell..." to look good in net. Let's hope that's the case.

In the immortal words of Lou Brown from the Movie "Major League"

"Great game tonight boys.. that's two wins in a row, win again tomorrow and that's what they call a winning streak"

(I've been saving that one up all season hoping to use it)

LOVED the game! ( even though I was one of like 5 thrashers fan)

I really did like the game of tobias even though he lost the puck in supid ways some times, but my ultimate player of the game reward goes to... KOVY AND KOZZIE!! the where both excellent kovy had flaming shots and kozzie had good scoring chances and created plays. And moose played so well in the end of the third period, but the habs still score(hey he's not superman!)

i also liked little's performance

Good Luck thrashers,

You're best canadian fan

Great victory last night. Probably the best overall performance of the season in my opinion. Hedberg played well. The offense had plenty of shoots on goal and the defense played better. The only negative was all the penalties toward the end of the third which led to the game tying goal.

Hedberg, Little, and Kovy were huge in the shootout. How about DW's decision to go with Little instead of Hossa in the shootout? That took guts and it payed off.

Hossa did have a lot of scoring chances last night but just couldn't get one past Price who played very well. I liked the line combos and hope they remain.
