Here are the highlights from tonight's game compliments of the Thrashers PR department. It still wasn't the result the Thrashers need but it was an improvement over the games in New York and Raleigh. The Thrashers are now 7 points back of the Hurricanes. * Atlanta was defeated 3-1 by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ont. … With the loss, the Thrashers record dropped to 29-30-4 for 62 this season.
* Mark Recchi scored a goal for the second-straight game, both of which have come on the power play … Recchi has tallied 13 power play points (five goals, eight assists) with Atlanta this season and has 180 power play goals in his career … The 40-year old veteran has recorded 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 34 games with the Thrashers this season. * Forward Marian Hossa tallied an assist for the second-consecutive game and now has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last six contests … Hossa ranks second on the Thrashers with 56 points (26 goals, 30 assists) in 60 games this season. * Slava Kozlov registered an assist in his third-straight game and has five assists in the last six games … Kozlov has tallied 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) in 63 games for the Thrashers this year. * The Thrashers were 1-for-6 on the power play tonight and have recorded a power play goal in four-straight contests, converting on 4-of-18 (22.2%) in that span. * Kari Lehtonen made the start in goal and turned away 22 of 25 shots in the loss … Lehtonen’s record stands at 13-17-2 with three shutouts, a 2.85 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 35 appearances this season. * The Thrashers close out their current five-game road swing on Tuesday, Feb. 26 when they will travel for Montreal for an Eastern Conference showdown with the Canadiens (7:30 p.m., SportSouth, 680 The Fan) … Atlanta returns to Blueland on Thursday, Feb. 28 when the NY Islanders make their final visit of the season

Now we can trade Hossa and let this team find its own identity...

Whether Hossa, Savard, Brunette, etc. our identity will continue to be that of our loser GM. The only way we get a new identity is to put Don in witness protection!
Thanks Don, once again you saved me money on playoff tickets, plus this time I will also save on my season ticket deposit for next year. See you next January when you guys are begging for folks to by season tickets for the last two months.

Who cares about Hossa? Get rid of everyone. This team SUCKS.

Sorry. You can't blame this on Waddell. The players can only take responsibility for themselves, but this proves that whether the coach is Hartley or Waddell. The play has been bad and inconsistent under both coaches. We didn't keep Hartley long enough to see what would unfold. Anyhow, let whatever happens happen. The team's destiny is in the players' hands. When are they going to turn a corner and play well?

I agree with Anoymous, I saw no highlights. We had our top scorers from last season, Hoss, Kovy and Slava taking a total of 5 shots and no goals. Recchi, Toby, Kari and Havilid kept us in the game - sort of.
I say bring in the youth. Principle Skinner, AKA Don Waddell, needs to go. But you know with the lame ownership, they will probably keep him and we will be stuck with 0.500 hockey and glimpses of making the playoffs each season. This is just sad.

Like the Atlanta Spirit don't want to make money. Lame ownership or not, money makes the world go round. The Hawks are the only thing that keep the Thrashers playing. I'm sure that they've love to have a team like Ottawa here, since there is obviously a fan base for something like that in Atlanta.
We made the playoffs last year, let's not forgot that. So we lost players and everything else, including the talent of certain people, just dropped off the face of the earth. I have to agree, it's the players. They're not playing for anything, and they are getting that sort of result: Going nowhere fast. I don't know if it's the thing about Hossa, get over it, it's business. I personal can't wait to see him gone now if this is the sort of affect he has on the team (in such a negative way). He can take it back to Ottawa or somewhere that "has a chance" Bite me Hossa.

Anyone who thinks that the Hawks are the only team making money for the Atlanta Spirit they are just as dumb as the 7 or 8 morons that call them selves the Atlanta Spirit. This team needs 1 owner that the GM can go and talk to when he wants to make a trade or spend money on some "quality" defenders and centers. People in Atlanta need to quit looking at the GM as the only problem and see that most of our problems are coming from further up the line. Waddel is doing what he has to do to keep his job. Lets keep supporting our team and maybe we can one day become a hockey town that a big name free agent wants to come to and play in.

I couldn't agree more. The team on the ice is due to the lame duck leadership of an ownership team that has no business owning a hockey team. They are more interested in charging you for an 8 dollar hotdog then providing the really hockey fans of the city a real team!

I agree with Howard. Thanks for saving me money on next years season tickets. This team needs new ownership and leadership. They should have fired Waddell a long time ago.Waddell do something right and trade yourself.

i wish arthur blank would take an intrest in hockey. He has the money to buy another franchise. he tried to buy the braves but i think it was time warner that refused to sell to him. But he is a great owner hands on and gives all the resources possible to make his team succesful.

I wish the Thrashers had a GM that was a former hockey player like Hull in Dallas, and I agree with kovy 17. We need owners who care about making the Thrashers a winner. Although our ticket prices are among the lowest in the NHL, if they would do what it takes to take Atlanta to the next level then I agree with Eric Perrin if that is really you or your alias. Anyhow, keep players who really show an enthusiasm to play like Perrin, Dupuis, Kari, Recchi, Kovy, Boulton, Thorburn, Havelid, Enstrom, Hedberg. Get rid of those who are playing flat like Slava, Exelby, and Zhitnik. Even Hossa has been putting up assists, but no goals. Why? Is he giving up now too now that he is so close to leaving? That stinks. What if no one wanted him now and waited until the end of the season? Not likely, but Montreal is now having some success without him. Ryder scored in the Rangers win, but then again, Montreal got shutout Saturday night to Columbus. Detroit doesn't need forwards either. They need defense. The only teams who may need him are San José or Philly, maybe Boston. Anyhow, who cares? If he wants to go, let him go and get some young center who is hungry to play and can work with enthusiasm with Kovy or other forwards who can improve with our team. I say Blank should buy out the current ownership and build a winner!!!
