More Hainsey Talk To Come

I'll have some more thoughts on Hainsey and some updates from Don Waddell later this evening after I make the trek from the office to the suburbs.
A couple quick hits though- Ilya Nikulin's agent hasn't returned any calls in the last few days so there hasn't been much movement there. The Thrashers make an effort to sign him every year and every year he's non-committal.
Don is still talking to several agents and is talking to teams about potential trades. I wouldn't expect anything in the next few hours though.

Hey that's when you should really expect them then knowing Don's track record! I like the idea of offering Fillpilla a contract up to what would not cost us more than a second round draft pick. Also looking around Tampa has 8 or more D-men signed for next year, so they may trade some especially Dan Boyle. Chicago and Anahiem have cap issues so Don might be able to do something yet. Let hope he is very successful!!

perhaps......but had to overpay to show we are committed to improving this team. Still need 2 more moves.....center and perhaps one more d-man

Ed, Tampa will never trade with us. We're in the same division. Its a rivalry. Dan Boyle's an asset to any team he goes to, so they'd rather break his legs than let him go to us.
Agree, one more D-man and a good, solid center for Ilya.

Also could use scoring RW with like 25 goals or more be nice as well. So far we are basically asking Kovy to score the mother load and Slava to have a twice as good year as last year was or we gonna be hurting scoring goals. Maybe Anderson's system will help other players get more goals. Who knows.

Sam, you may be correct, but you never say never in the NHL. Other teams deal within their divisions, all I'm saying is let's at least ask! Think we still need another D-man, Center, and a scoring Rt Winger. Huselius would be a good signing. I also like the idea of Pavol Demitra in Thrasher Blue. Steve Montador from FL might be an affordable D-Man.

Demitra will cost nd he is good friends with Hossa who I am sure will tell him to head right down to bleland if they overpay for him like they did for Hainsey then Demitra will come here for 7.5 Million a year and I doubt he has 5 years left in him and he is injury prone but that never stopped Don before Rucchin, White, Defoe

come on DW we need a Center and a D-Man by today or maybe all the talented one might be gone

Unless DW moves X or Klee, we aren't getting another defenseman.
Havelid - Toby Hainsey - Klee X - Bogosian/Valabik
...or some variation of those players.
Let's grap a couple of forwards!

Ben, Of all the forwards and d men left, who do you like?

Another name off the list.
Columbus Blue Jackets sign UFA winger Kristian Huselius (4-year, $4.75 million).

That's ok. We really need a RW not a LW. Not surprised; I knew someone was going to get him and knew Calgary was not going to resign him now that they have Camalleri.
Ben, Who do you like?

Sam, Just to follow up ESPN is reporting that, Tampa has tried to trade Dan Boyle. "League sources tell the Sun that new Lightning owners Len Barrie and Oren Koules have talked to every team in the league about trading Boyle, but haven't yet approached him about any proposed deal." I really wonder what they would ask for in return? Guess you never say never?

Too bad Thrashers just can't buy Dan Boyle from the Lightning...you know like buying a used car? We all know we have the money and cap space to do so. Do we "have" to trade a player to Tampa for Boyle? LOL.

Has anyone heard if the Thrashers are in on any forwards? I would love to see Korvy have someone who could get him the puck.

We need more than that. We need two solid scoring lines. I don't see that at all...not even close..

I've heard Atlanta has offered a contract to Morrison, he's a playmaker who might fit with Kovy. Unfortunately, so have several other teams, and that usually doesn't mean good news for the Thrashers.
