Blueland Block Party A Hit
Posted by: Ben Wright on April 7, 2007 at 8:27PM EST

The first ever Blueland Block Party was a huge success. The turn out was great, especially considering how cold it was. I'm horrible at estimating numbers, but I'd wager there were a few hundred fans on Philips Drive enjoying the concessions, ball hockey, face painting, sign making, music (provided by DaveFM) and inflatable games.

It went well enough that there's talk of doing it again in the playoffs, but with some improvements. Stay tuned for details, end take a look at the pictures below.

Notice the red mohawk...

... and check out the hair on this young fan. Guess who he arrived with? I love fans with attitude.

The sign factory was busy the whole time...

... and we might have set a new record for signs at a single game.

It might not have been warm, but people were enjoying the sun.

The youth ball hockey was definitely a hit.

Some of these kids had serious game.

We might want to look into finding a more level court though.

we stopped by - looked great for the kids! we got in lline so i could get my face painted but then realized we wouldn't have time to wait, get food, get inside and see warm ups. So we went inside and friends of ours were second in line for the face painting upstairs, and the woman still hadnt' shown up by 6:35. So we all left to watch warm ups. That was a bit disappointing. Luckily the last 20 minutes of the game more than made up for it :)

where can i find the montage that played after the game?

Forgive a moment of complaining on my part, but I think telling people where Philips drive is in relation to the parking and box office would have been helpful. We wanted to come, but by the time you hike from the parking lot with a kid the choice between "Find the party" and "Go inside where its warm and there are bathrooms" is easy to make.

Fair enough. We'll try to do more to explain where the party is next time.
