Bad News, Good News

How you feel right now as a Thrashers fan depends on whether you look at a glass as half full or half empty.

No, we haven't signed anyone yet. That might be frustrating. The flip side is that I haven't said I wish we had have signed him" a single time. Players are getting signed, but none of them are players I expected us to be going after.

All of the big name defensemen are still out there, as are the big wingers. We haven't missed out on anyone yet.

Ben do you have any idea of who DW is talking to.

Posted by: Ben Wright on July 1, 2008 4:30PM EST
I don't. There are unconfirmed reports that we made a substantial offer to Brian Campbell though.

Posted by: Jonathan Peterson on July 1, 2008 4:31PM EST
Dupuis.

Posted by: Ben on July 1, 2008 4:32PM EST
Ben do you have any news on any rumors that you may have heard or read with your inside information.

Not only do I like this time of year for the obvious reasons I love hearing the rumors of "where" people are going it makes the news that much better.

Thanks for the updates

Posted by: Ben Wright on July 1, 2008 4:33PM EST
I have zero inside info. Waddell and his staff are in Duluth. I'm at our downtown offices. I'm relying on the internet just like everyone else.

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 4:35PM EST
Ben,
Let's face facts unless Don can deliver the goods (Campbell, Roszival, Redden, B. Morrison, etc.) most fans simply are not going to pony up the increased prices for ST's. The economy and the lack of an effort on the part of the ASG gives us no reason to do so!

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 4:38PM EST
The Thrashers have not been near aggressive enough for most fans! We need them to show us they care by making a committed effort to winning year in and year out. It's been 10 years! Let's go!!

Posted by: Ben Wright on July 1, 2008 4:43PM EST
Ed- Get back to me when we miss out on the big names. So far We haven't missed out on anyone significant.

If we miss out on everyone I'll certainly understand your frustration. It's too early to get upset though.

Posted by: Robert on July 1, 2008 4:43PM EST
I am hearing the Atlanta-Campbell rumors from several sites. Looks like he'll be going for big money wherever he lands.

Posted by: BK on July 1, 2008 5:01PM EST
I agree we haven't missed out yet. We're only 5 hrs into it and with some agents like Steve Bartlett repping minimally 2 if not more of the more coveted free agents (Huet and Rolston) its not like everything happens in a flash. I'll wait to make my judgements after day 2 is done, but I agree some sort of decent move needs to be made.

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 5:15PM EST
campbell is either going to the thrasher blackhawks or the sharks.

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 5:17PM EST
Man, Tampa Bay is making me mad, not only have they signed a ton of talent, I also heard their owner talk about there first line as the "MVP" line. With all of my hatred of the lightning, im begining to deeply envy them. Their staff is going out and getting great players while we dont have a single line yet able to match there newly formed third. It is true that the big names have not yet been signed, so will wait and see. But if we wont sign anyone significant such as Cambell or Sackic or Rolston, i think ill have to slowly give up on this team, they wouldent stand a chance against a jugernaut such as Tampa Bay.

Posted by: DMatos on July 1, 2008 5:18PM EST
"Per Strickland: Atlanta's Offer of 8.5 per Campbell is being matched by Chicago"

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 5:28PM EST
Ben,
Have they stopped at 5pm or will this go on all night

Posted by: Matt on July 1, 2008 5:32PM EST
Yeah, DW has a one track mind....he sees Campbell and throws all his attention on him while everyone else gets taken. He'll get outbid and we will have no one else to pick because everyone will be already taken. We'll have to settle for a washed-up old veteran on his last leg who's been in the league for 20 years. As you can tell, this is what DW does EVERY year, jeeze, I can't wait until we pull a tampa and get new ownership and a new GM.

Posted by: Michael on July 1, 2008 5:40PM EST
Ben,
Is there anything that can be done about the Message Boards?
I've been getting knocked off every time I try to look at something new.

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 5:41PM EST
campbell is going to the blackhawks.

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 5:44PM EST
campbell just signed with the blackhawks.

Posted by: Terrible T on July 1, 2008 5:48PM EST
Looks like Chicago got the Campbell prize. I wasn't really expecting it anyway.

Lets face it, he and his agent used us to get a better offer somewhere else. Other players and agents will do the same. We are NOT I mean NOT going to get a player of any real signifigance. Cant't blame them for using us, its just business. I really feew sorry for Don, I think he is trying this year. No one will ever want to play here, its a fact of life. And, we will be out of the playoff picture forever. I am disgusted, but don't know who to be disgusted with.

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 5:50PM EST
So true Terrible T

Posted by: q on July 1, 2008 5:53PM EST
Funny how about 3 minutes after the Campbell news broke, I get voicemail spam about ticket packages. :)

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 5:55PM EST
way to make a move hey i got an idea lats extend zhitnik and klee's contract. Prediction Lightning win division next year and go far in the playoffs

Posted by: Terrible T on July 1, 2008 5:57PM EST
May I ask if the message board is going to be down for a thousand years? This is not good.

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 6:00PM EST
I hate Waddell and the ASG. You can't sign anyone today, but you can call me about ticket packages? Uh.... NO THANK YOU!

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 6:01PM EST
there's no good defensemen left atleast idont consider them good. I guess it isn't all about the money for Campbell I guess its true nobody wants to come to atl. and ben I think this qualifies as bad news

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 6:02PM EST
Ben so much for you glass half full thought the glass is now empty

Posted by: Former STH - Former Fan? on July 1, 2008 6:05PM EST
Woohoo! ASG makes the top players want to come to this city and win. Oh wait, that's not right!

Atlanta Thrashers = Joke of the NHL

Way to use that 5 year game plan going in to year 9 DW!!!

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:05PM EST
Well, Campbell is the best one, but not the only one. There is still Streit, Hainsey, Roszival for less money. Hopefully, we can get one of them. All of Colorado's defenseman except 2 are gone. Sauer, Finger are gone. Mike Commodore I think is also still available, but I would still prefer the first three I mentioned. The one I could see us getting as a best shot is Hainsey. I don't see Streit leaving Montreal for Atlanta or Roszival from NYR to Atlanta either. Columbus has never been to the playoffs, and we have; maybe we have something there.

Posted by: Robert on July 1, 2008 6:06PM EST
Of all of the defensemen left, none of them really wow me. Mark Streit is no good defensively, and Wade Redden is washed up. I've never been sold on Roszival as a top-2 guy.

Posted by: sean on July 1, 2008 6:06PM EST
its officail campbell signs with chicago

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:07PM EST
Scratch, Mike Commodore. He just signed with Columbus.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 6:07PM EST
Man looking like we are gunna suck since nobody wants to sign here except washed up veterans or 3rd-4th line players....again! ARGH!

Posted by: z on July 1, 2008 6:07PM EST
Commodore went to Columbus...

Posted by: JW on July 1, 2008 6:07PM EST
"Columbus has never been to the playoffs, and we have; maybe we have something there."

Although both teams have the same amount of playoff wins!

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 6:07PM EST
Commodore to Columbus... so much for your theory Steve

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 6:08PM EST
imagine that hawks signed 2 players today and we cant even get one

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:09PM EST
Sean,
Scroll up a few. We have known since 5:40PM.

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:11PM EST
Mike,
No theory. He was available until I just read about the signing. It literally happened just seconds after I posted, Mike. Excuse me!

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 6:12PM EST
still plenty of players out there.i didnt see the thrashers contending this year anyway. im sure DW is looking to the future.

Posted by: Terrible T on July 1, 2008 6:13PM EST
Hainsey is a decent player but it will take much more than just him to make this team signifigantly better.

Streit & Roszival with their agents will tease us to get a better offer from other teams.

No disrespect Steve, but there is NO hope. We are the 21st century version of the California Golden Seals. I'll still go to some games, but I will never expect to have a winner.

Posted by: LL on July 1, 2008 6:14PM EST
I can't believe some of the comments on here. Have you guys seen how long the list of UFA's is? The signings have barely scratched the surface. DW is trying to get the team together and he has made some really good moves. Give the man a chance! As for the comment that NO ONE WILL EVER WANT TO PLAY HERE, I happen to know for a fact how untrue that statement is. During the All Star games I drove allot of players and had the opportunity to talk to them. You would not believe the amount of big name players said that they wanted to come play for Atlanta because they wanted to help build the team to a whole new level.

It is not every players mindset to want to just play for a winning team, they want to play to help a team win.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 6:18PM EST
Ya that's all nice LL until a bigger market team that has a better chance at doing something offers those said players more money. Campbell to Blackhawks? Raise your hand if you saw that coming? *looks around*.

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 6:23PM EST
please note first comments out of campbell's mouth are Chicago is a Hockeytown and a hockey market

Posted by: Sean Grace on July 1, 2008 6:27PM EST
Terrible T,

You message board troll, go whine somewhere else.

We need scorers and playmakers also folks. Rolston is still out there. We need to get him.

S Grace

Posted by: Sean Grace on July 1, 2008 6:29PM EST
And now Rolston is gone and I am angry

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 6:30PM EST
Yes I would love to see us land Rolston since Campbell is gone. We really need some scoring depth besides Kovy. Slava better not turn in another season like last year either or we'll be really hurting for scoring period.

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 6:33PM EST
rolston just signed a 4 year deal for 20 million with the devils.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 6:33PM EST
Well dang..nevermind then. I guess it's almost time to face the fact...

Say hello to your Atlanta WolvesThrashers.

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:39PM EST
And the Devils win the Rolston sweepstakes- 5 yrs. 20 mill.

Terrible T,
The top defenseman is gone, and some other good players are gone too, but this is not over.

I feel discouraged too, but this is not over; good god, it is just the 1st day. I know the best ones may and I mean May be gone, but we don't know for sure. No one knows. Did you see Campbell going to Chicago or Huet? I didn't. Did you see Tucker going to Colorado? Or Rolston to NJ? I didn't see any of this coming. So, again, to speculate is really dumb. Just wait and see. Let's TRY to be optimistic. I am with LL and Sean Grace; I think Waddell has messed up, but he is trying. Come on, I am sure he pitched a lot of money to Campbell, but ultimately, he went to a hockey town. Not surprising. And Chicago is really starting to look good. They resigned all of their top defenseman and added Campbell and Huet. Huet and Khabibulin are not the best, but they might be better with their defense now. Anyhow, let's just wait and see. Waddell has to make some kind of move, and someone has to accept. I hope.

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:40PM EST
rolston for 4 yrs. 20 mill, Sorry.

Posted by: Matt on July 1, 2008 6:46PM EST
Rozsival re-signed with NY, and another one bites the dust....tick tock Don..

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 6:46PM EST
Roszival resigned by NYR. Not surprised. I didn't really expect him to leave. Avery and Shanahan, yes, but Roszival, no.

Posted by: Robert on July 1, 2008 6:48PM EST
Looks like Roszival is gone now too. That leaves Redden, Hainsey, Orpik, Streit, Mara.

I might pass on all of them.

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 6:50PM EST
I am telling all of our eggs were in the soup can

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 6:59PM EST
Not a single good quality defenceman left, just a bunch of leftovers that nobody wants who are asking for three times there value.

Posted by: Terrible T on July 1, 2008 6:59PM EST
Sorry, but I have to see it as it is. This does not look good.

As for giving Don a chance, well lest see, he's been around here since 1998 to put this thing together. He's had long enough and we're getting closer to the early first 3 yrs of the franchise. I do believe he's making a genuine effort but, thus far its no go. He put this together, its up to him to bring help on the way & get it done fast, this is a fast time of the year.

I do not see much to be optomistic about. If I did not care about the team, I'd totally ignore it. I do care.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 7:04PM EST
So did Don forget to set his alarm clock? Someone who has his number call him quick. We are going to end up signing the Todd Whites and Steve Rucchins of this year's FA list. Blech.

Posted by: Chris on July 1, 2008 7:05PM EST
Bobby Holik's gone back to Jersey for a year. Dupuis stayed in Pitt.

If you could hear me screaming, you'd hear the voice of enraged frustration.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 7:07PM EST
Just about every team has made some sort of move before July 1st and today even signing some good players. What have the Thrashers done? Gave out qualifying offers to 5 players and bought Zhitnik...that's it. WTF?

Posted by: Ben Wright on July 1, 2008 7:11PM EST
My apologies for the message board troubles. We have several emails in with the hosting company that provides boards for all NHL teams.

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 7:14PM EST
are they still working in duluth or just drowning their sorrows

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 7:20PM EST
Holik went back to Jersey ???????

Posted by: Terrible T on July 1, 2008 7:20PM EST
They will wind up grossly overpaying for the likes of Fedorov, Bertuzzi and Luke Richardson type of players just to get to the cap floor.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 7:22PM EST
Either that or some Chicago Wolves players are going to hit the jackpot just so Thrashers can have some bodies on the ice and the minimum cap achieved. LOL

Posted by: DMatos on July 1, 2008 7:27PM EST
So far, I'm really glad I didn't renew. Hopefully, DW and Anderson will make me sorry in the coming weeks.

Posted by: Frank L on July 1, 2008 7:28PM EST
Don won't sign a big name he will over pay for a has been or a never was (Ruchin, White, Rhodes Defoe, Holik, ect, ect) but he won't land a big name. Never mind three like this team needs just to have a long shot next year.
He can not draft he can not trade and he can not sign so what can he do?????
The owners seem happy with him or scared of having to find two GM's in a summer But I feel bad for some of the owners they really seem stuck

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 7:31PM EST
The opportunity has passed Don Waddell by folks! He is a failure!!!! Fire Don Waddell!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 7:33PM EST
So why didn't Don trade Holik, Moose, Recchi, and some of the others at trade deadline to pick up low draft picks to package for high and better picks. They had to know that the season was in the toliet with out Hossa. And with Don having never signed a big free agent whyt let things get this far gone. Thee thrashers will get another chance next year with the number one or two picks over all.

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 7:39PM EST
Redden just signed with the rangers

Posted by: Brian on July 1, 2008 7:40PM EST
I am not giving up hope just yet, but if things go bad from the start of the season I will be rooting for losses every week so we can try and win the Tavares sweepstakes.

Posted by: thrashers89 on July 1, 2008 7:42PM EST
What is going on!!! Are we going to do anything!!! I thought d.w. said we are going to be very active in free agency. What the !!!!! are you waiting for!!!!!!!

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 7:45PM EST
Well i dont know what the F--- Wadell wants, redden is gone, the only way Wadell can redeem himself is if he signs Joe Sacik, other that that, he can burn in H---

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 7:48PM EST
It will take years to re build now why oh why could they not have signed a GM who knows some thing about hockey and not just passing the buck and attacking the press that finally tells the truth.
At the end of this year the thrashers will lose.Armstrong, Christensen, Perrin, Havlid will all be gone and Kovy the following year.

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 7:48PM EST
Folks let's just face it we are now on the trade market! Waddell should place a call to Tampa and work a deal for Dan Boyle! Streit, Hainsey, Orpik only D-men left worth FA $$'s.

Posted by: Barry on July 1, 2008 7:51PM EST
I was so looking forward to us going after a bunch of guys with all the cap space and money we have only to see websites this evening at 8pm and we have signed NOBODY! ABSOLUTELY NOBODY! I can't wait to go to the first game just to boo Waddell until I can't boo no more. I'm just dumbfounded we can't even resign Kari or anyone AT ALL by this point!

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 7:52PM EST
All of you are morons. Just because someone chooses not to sign with the Thrashers does not mean that the team has not been active.

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 7:56PM EST
okay Anonymous please do tell us what they are so busy at doing in Duluth

Posted by: thrash018 on July 1, 2008 7:58PM EST
Same old Thrashers, no news and DW is back to what he does best. NOTHING. I renewed my season tickets this year BELIEVING that he would do something.

Name one player that is out there that will assist us in our needs.....

Posted by: Aaron on July 1, 2008 8:03PM EST
Waddell ought to go!! All of this money to throw around and NOTHING!! We need Defense so bad and we could have signed two really good D for just over market value. Come On, I won't renew next year!

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 8:22PM EST
Streit is going to the Islanders for 5 yrs. 20.5 mill. Only top defenseman left are Hainsey and Boyle unless I am leaving someone out.

Really!!! What is Waddell waiting for? Or maybe he is pitching to them and they are not accepting.

Posted by: tackkjr on July 1, 2008 8:22PM EST
Time for DW to call Pops right away. Maybe now he'll get some ice time

Posted by: Michael on July 1, 2008 8:24PM EST
Touche tackkjr. That was well played sir.

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 8:25PM EST
By the way, anonymous, Holik was traded to NJ and will make 2.5 mill for 1 yr.

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 8:26PM EST
Sorry, Holik was signed by NJ not traded.

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 8:27PM EST
Steve
What ??????
Holik is URFA signed not traded.

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 8:28PM EST
Ben,
I am still waiting! And we have no news to celebrate. What are they doing in Duluth. TSN guys made the statement that a lot of mistakes are made the first day of free agency. But the fans sure need something to give us hope! Maybe Ilya Nikulin will be announced as signing with the Thrashers.
Streit, Redden, Campbell are all signed with other teams. Hainsey? Orpik? RFA offer sheets?

Posted by: Peter on July 1, 2008 8:34PM EST
So why not resign Haydar and Krog at least they can find the back of the net and they know Anderson's system. But that would mean that Anderson would get to play his own system not Don's And before any one starts Haydar scored more points in his few games up here than most of this team did all season.

Posted by: Matt on July 1, 2008 8:35PM EST
I hate Don Wadell, I hate the Atlanta Spirit Group, they all should pack their bags and leave. This is just sad, I don't even care if we end up signing every big name player from this point onward, it doesn't matter - every other GM can make offers and get results - Don Wadell is supposed to be this "Wheelin' & Dealin' god" but he's just a waste of oxygen. Go home Don, good god, go away.

Posted by: Matt on July 1, 2008 8:36PM EST
Krog is with Kwaitkowski in a Russian league next year, already signed up with them. As far as Haydar, I would be delighed to see him play a full season with us, I thought he did great when he played a few games last year. Guess mr. Awsome Don didn't think so. (what an idiot)

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 8:41PM EST
I know Anonymous, I caught it. Excuse me!

Maybe we should all email the owners; I just did. I really voiced my frustration. Not sure what it will do, but at least I did it.

Posted by: Ben Wright on July 1, 2008 8:44PM EST
Ed- Feel free to see the glass as half empty at this point.

Trades are still an option and there are still some valuable free agents out there, but I'll understand if people are frustrated and/or disappointed.

Hopefully Don has something up his sleeve.

Posted by: Ed Pollock on July 1, 2008 8:46PM EST
Hey Ben, In response to your earlier post to my comments,
"Ed- Get back to me when we miss out on the big names. So far We haven't missed out on anyone significant."
Lets see we missed on Campbell, Redden, Roszival,
Rolston, Streit, shall I continue? Not to mention we could have gone after Ryan Malone, Vrbata, Stillman,Pitkanan, who else can we name?
I'd say we misse dout big time. By the way, our roster looks mighty thin since the webmisters cleaned off all of our UFA's. I know I am frustrated, but I do love the work you do!

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 8:47PM EST
ben, what kind of trade vaule do we have.the thrashers have done a poor job in scouting and drafting, arent i right or no?i think there looking to the future and start rebuilding like the maple leafs.

Posted by: John on July 1, 2008 8:47PM EST
I think we fans get caught up with the big names. I really doubt that DW would purposely tear the team apart by not doing anything. I sorta feel that DW has something that is going to shock us all. who knows

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 8:48PM EST
Dan Boyle and Jay Bouwmeester are still options too along with Ron Hainsey on defense. Others that TSN thinks are most wanted are Bouchard from Minn, Meszaros fr. Ottawa, and Filippula fr. Detroit. None of them are gone yet, are they? I thought Filippula was resigned by Detroit.

Posted by: quencies78 on July 1, 2008 8:52PM EST
yeah like bring hossa back right??? what ever, if DW blows my mind away with anything, its gonna be his resignation

Posted by: Mike on July 1, 2008 8:52PM EST
Ben Stop

You have been trying to keep Don's crdibility for a long time, but this is the tip of the iceberg. There are no effective agents left on defence, we are not going to sign a good enough or a young enough center or winger, and there is nothing up Don's sleve than sweat from the frustration of what he is going to say to the fans come the season starts.

Trades! dont make me laugh, we do not have a single player whom we would want to trade and get something valuble in return. This team has no core and today way an opertunity to rebuild, Don failed at this, there is no one to fill the diminished team other than 40 year old "senior citizens" who will take 10 mil and do nothing, or better yet, get injured and sit out the whole season

Thank you Ben for the positive motivation, but the glass is very much empty right now, and ,unfortunately, it seems as if it is going to stay this way.

Posted by: scott on July 1, 2008 8:53PM EST
bouchard is a restricted free agent.u have to make an offer than the wild can match that offer.

Posted by: roman on July 1, 2008 8:55PM EST
damn, don is worthless, why can't we just get a new gm... seriously what is the ownership group thinking

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 8:56PM EST
Hey John just heard he signed Patrik Stefan, Damion Rhodes, and Zhitnik what a block buster move

Posted by: gategirl on July 1, 2008 8:57PM EST
Based on Ben's comment ... I sense that he is a bit frustrated as well so let's lay off of him

Posted by: Jim on July 1, 2008 8:59PM EST
Ben
You are a good guy DW keeps screwing up and you keep toweing the line loyalty is a rare thing these days. Never apologize for it.
Thanks for the help and I hope they keep around how would you like to be a GM?

Posted by: Steve on July 1, 2008 9:00PM EST
Mike,
I am frustrated too, but there are some people left. I just mentioned some before on defense and offense.

Dan Boyle and Jay Bouwmeester are still options too along with Ron Hainsey on defense. Others that TSN thinks are most wanted are Bouchard from Minn, Meszaros fr. Ottawa, and Filippula fr. Detroit. Also, Pavol Demitra fr. Minnesota. There are others, but some of the real good ones are gone. I agree. I can't believe that Waddell hasn't resigned anyone either. Email the owners with your frustration! I did!

Posted by: roman on July 1, 2008 9:00PM EST
Ben- I have a question for you.. Is the ownership group totally oblivious to the fact that the fans don't like Don W, or do they know and are just ignoring us

Posted by: John on July 1, 2008 9:03PM EST
It just seems to me that a lot of money is being thrown around by teams in hope that they are one FA away from getting the cup. Atlanta is not one of those teams. The Thrashers need help on several fronts. We might not get the "name" FA, but often, these guys disappoint. I was excited when the Thrashers got Zhitnik and Holik at the time, but they were busts, and we gave up good talent to get them. We need players with heart and are hungry to make it. I hope DW will get some of these type players.

Posted by: LL on July 1, 2008 9:05PM EST
You people need to lay off Ben

Posted by: Anonymous on July 1, 2008 9:05PM EST
I can only say that they must want a bad year or else they do not care if blue land is a population of 4 next year they have to know that the ship is sinking

Ed- I agree that we missed out on a lot of big names. I'm reserving judgement until it's all done, but I can understand the frustration.

Scott- I think the Thrashers have drafted well the last 2-3 years and we'll see the results in a year or two. Our biggest asset in trades is cap space. Anaheim is in trouble. Chicago is over the cap. there are probably others but those two teams jump out.

Steve- I don't have any reason to think Boyle or Bouwmeester are on the block. Boyle has a lengthy contract and a no-trade clause that he has said he has no intention of waiving. Meszaros, Filippula and Bouchard are all RFA's but to me it isn't worth the compensation you'd have to give up to get them. Odds are their teams would match any offer anyway. OTT, DET and MIN all have cap space.

Sorry John
Larsen, Klee, Exelby, Moose and White are already signed so I guess he will need to find hart players some where else
