I won't pretend to know anything about Spencer Machacek aside form what I've read today so I emailed Jes Golbez to see what he had to say about him. Jes is a solid hockey writer who writes his own blog, AOL NHL Fahouse and who has done work for Eurohockey.net and he happens to be a Vancouver Giants fan. Here's what he had to say about the Thrashers' first selection.

"I think Thrashers fans will like Machacek as a 3rd round pick. He's a very hard worker and has a soft touch around the net. He suffered through some concussion problems this season and his numbers were down, but he was great in the playoffs.

I've always compared him to Mark Parrish. He plays a very similar style and scores the same type of goals."
